Filmogel for mouth ulcers is a medical device manufactured by Urgo Laboratories. It helps maintain oral health and promotes well-being throughout the mouth. It is formulated using the patented Filmogel® technology to aid the healing process.
This innovative liquid dressing helps to treat small, benign ulcers that form in the mouth. It soothes discomfort caused by friction from orthodontic appliances and dental braces. It also helps with mouth ulcers caused by stress and fatigue.
It is very useful as a treatment for mouth sores or wounds, as when applied it forms a protective layer that relieves pain and promotes rapid healing. Furthermore, it acts as a barrier against external irritants, such as food and drink.
It also isolates saliva whilst eating without causing discomfort during chewing. It has been tested in clinical trials which show that 50 per cent of users are satisfied or very satisfied after using it.
Who is it suitable for?
URGO Aftas Filmogel, 10 ml bottle, is indicated for the treatment of minor mouth sores, mouth ulcers and canker sores.
Directions for use
Open the bottle and remove any excess product by resting the spatula on the rim. Then apply the product to the affected area. Keep your mouth open for 10 seconds to allow the liquid to dry, set and form a visible protective film.
If the sore has not been completely covered, repeat the process. Urgo Aftas Filmogel can be reapplied as often as required, although this is not necessary whilst the protective film remains visible.
It is generally recommended to carry out this procedure four times a day, preferably before meals, until the sore has healed.
The composition of this product helps to automatically disinfect the applicator spatula; therefore, it does not need to be cleaned after each use.
Contraindications
This dressing should not be applied to severe mouth ulcers or those larger than 1 cm. Nor should it be used on small, numerous ulcers, as these require medical attention.
Its use is not recommended on infected wounds, bleeding wounds or burns. People who are allergic to salicylic acid derivatives should not use this product.
There are no studies detailing its effects on pregnant or breastfeeding women; therefore, it is not recommended that they use the liquid without the guidance of a specialist.
